A kitchen and living area in Alderley Edge, where funky design elements meet classical shapes and finishes. The aim was a timeless interior that does not tip over into being boring.

The island and the colour

The coloured glass panel made for the centre island sets the colour for the room, and the artwork, the scatter cushions and the accessories all answer it rather than competing with it.

The corner sofa, upholstered in a plush navy blue velvet, is a statement on its own. Comfort and function were blended together deliberately here: this is a room that gets used every day, not one that gets looked at.

Kitchens and living spaces in Alderley Edge

Alderley Edge is about twenty minutes from the showroom in Bowdon. Most kitchen and living projects here are open plan, which means the two halves have to be designed as one room: the island finish, the sofa fabric and the artwork all decided together rather than in sequence.

If the kitchen units are already in and the room still does not work, that is usually a lighting and furniture problem rather than a kitchen problem, and it is a much cheaper one to fix.
